How NASA defined the importance of having a mission

Winning is a goal, not a mission - everyone wants to do it. When a team has a purpose bigger than themselves the impossible becomes possible. Creating a mission for your group, sport or business, is part of the recipe for building a champion.

As legend would have it, in 1961 President Kennedy was visiting NASA headquarters. While touring the facility he introduced himself to a worker and asked what he did for NASA. That man, who was a janitor said, "I'm helping to put a man on the moon!"

While some may initially think the janitor was exhibiting sarcasm, in reality, he was quite serious. He under stood the mission, his role in that mission and the importance of that mission...

Do you have a mission as clearly defined as NASA during the space race?
